Tools
The Tools section provides administrative utilities for maintaining your church's data. These are bulk operations that help keep records accurate and clean. Access requires church admin permission.
Family names in NazTrack are automatically generated from the names of the people in each family. Over time, after merges, name updates, or data imports, some family names may become stale or incorrect.
Clicking Regenerate Family Names recalculates the display name for every family in your church at once. This is a safe, non-destructive operation — it only updates the generated name field and does not change any person records.
A confirmation message will tell you how many families were processed and how many names were updated.
Empty family records can accumulate when all members of a family have been removed or merged elsewhere. These orphaned families take up space in your database without serving any purpose.
The Trim Empty Families button shows how many empty families currently exist in your church. Clicking it permanently deletes those empty family records. This has no effect on any person records — only the empty family containers themselves are removed.
If there are no empty families, the button is disabled.
The CSV import tool lets you bulk-add people and family records to your church from a spreadsheet file. This is useful when setting up a new church or migrating records from another system.
Clicking Import People & Families (CSV) takes you to the import workflow, which walks you through uploading and mapping your CSV file to NazTrack fields.
The duplicate detection tool scans your church's people records and surfaces pairs of records that appear to be the same person. It uses a scoring system that gives weight to matching name, email, phone, date of birth, and family membership. Pairs with a high enough score are shown as probable duplicates.
For each probable duplicate pair, you will see a side-by-side comparison of the two records with their key details. You then decide:
- Which record to keep — Select A or B. The unchosen record will be merged into the keeper.
- Copy missing fields — When checked, any fields that are blank on the keeper but present on the merged record will be copied over. When unchecked, only the keeper's existing data is retained.
- Family handling — Choose what happens to the family memberships: keep both families as-is, move the merged person's family into the keeper's, or move the keeper into the merged person's family.
Click Merge Selected to combine the two records. This action is permanent — merged records cannot be unmerged. If you are certain two records are not the same person, click Not a Duplicate. That pair will be dismissed and will not appear in suggestions again.
